💵 Tip

✈️ Planes Overhead

See live planes and helicopters above your exact spot. Needs a data signal. Some small aircraft won't show.

Signal for help

📞 Calling or texting 911 beats any signal. Searchers come to your GPS.

🔺 Three of anything in a triangle means distress: three smokes, three whistle blasts, three flashes.

🪞 Mirror or phone screen: flash sunlight at aircraft. It can be seen for miles.

🪨 Ground signs, big as you can make them with rocks or gear: V = need help, X = need medical help, SOS.

🔥 Fire is a last resort. Desert brush spreads fast. Clear the ground first. Green brush on a fire makes white smoke by day.

🚙 Stay with your vehicle. It's far easier to spot from the air than a person.

🔥 Heat & Weather Alerts

Live National Weather Service warnings for where you are: extreme heat, wind, flash floods, fire, storms.

Summer heat rules: carry at least a gallon of water per person, ride early, rest in shade, and know heat-stroke signs: confusion, hot dry skin, no sweating. That's a 911 call.
